I have never watched these films before and I am very disappointed in myself for that. I always thought that it was just another stupid slasher clone of Friday the Thirteenth or Halloween. I was right but these film are different enough in the right ways to make them so much better. These films have a meta aspect to them that is the trademark of the franchise. Each film starts with the “rules” and they pretty much set up how each film will play out. Each film builds on the last and does a pretty good job at it keeping a story flowing film to film. They are all good films but there can only be a first place.

This one was forgettable, not disappointing but just not the best in the series. Dewey, Sidney, and Gale hold it down but the performances were not as refined as the later movies.

Scream 3 was ok it, ended the trilogy of the first films but didn’t really do it for me. The Hollywood stuff and the back story for Sidney’s mother felt like the writers were out of ideas and just threw shit at a dart board.

The great restart so they can keep pumping these babies out for years to come. They freshened up the cast with some young blood but kept some of the legacy cast around. It was a good restart to a great franchise.

This film was a classic and had my interest from the very first scene with Drew Barrymore. This film introduces us to Ghost face and the crazy meta universe it would create. The Stab movies inside the Scream movies make you wonder if we are all in a movie…

This one was great it introduced new people to an old setting and the killers unmasking had me surprised for sure. The old saga cast came through to save the day in the end because they know the rules. Also the budget seemed way higher on this one. Guess they had to go all out being this one came out 11 years after number 3.

1. Scream 6

Scream 6 was so fucking good, it took everything they learned from the first 5 films and smashed them into this one then dialed it up to 11. The main character battles with her heritage. Ghost Face just fucking people up in the middle of New York city with not a care in the world of getting caught. It was an absolute blast the whole time and i can not wait for Scream 7 to be released. Let me know if you agree and if not “What’s your favorite scary movie?”
