Kate

This one was not an original movie at all, and I was for it. It was almost a blow-by-blow clone of the movie Crank starring Jason Statham. Like in Crank the main character, (Kate), is a bad ass assassin who is poisoned on the job and has just a few hours left to hunt down and kill the fucker responsible. This film has a twist at the end that is predictable, there is the kid which adds a little something to the story, and there is the kid assassin back story for Kate. Other than that, it is pretty much the story of Crank. She is dying and keeps hitting adrenaline shots to keep going and gets the bad guy. 7/10 This movie was very good if you like gory action films. It was hindered in my book by being predictable and not well marketed, I don’t remember seeing any ads for it when it came out and it was a pain to find.

Kind of a small cast of main characters in this film. Kate, it played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Her handler/coach Varrick is played by Woody Harrelson. And the little girl that helps Kate is played by Miku Patricia Martineau. All together a solid cast of mains and they all worked well together. 9/10 the casting was done well, and I really enjoyed the performances they gave.

The Presentation

This movie was beautiful to watch. With the night life in Tokyo being so vibrant it made for some awesome backdrops for Kate to do her murders in front of. The restaurant scene where she takes down a whole bunch of goons to get some answers was one of the best in the movie. It reminded me of the fight scene in Kill Bill Vol 1 where the bride must fight the whole Yakuza gang in the bar to get to her first name on her list. Such a good scene and this movie had some of the same vibes to it. 8/10 Beautiful movie all I ask is for more it felt rushed in a way. Kate blast through people so fast it’s hard to keep track of what is happening.

8/10 Solid film, besides the fact the story was a little unoriginal and the whole thing felt rushed this movie was pretty good. if you are a fan of these actors then you are in for a treat both big names in this one gave great performances and helped this movie stand out. I don’t remember a lot of advertising for this movie, so it seemed to fall into the bowels of Netflix very quickly. If you are looking for a gory action flick to enjoy, I highly recommend this one.
