Immortals of Aveum
Not wizards I think?

THE STORY
Alright looks like I have another fucking magic game to review. This one left me pleasantly surprised and was able to turn around the bad attitude I had when I started to play it. This game starts and you are essentially Aladdin in this wonderful shit hole town built under a bridge over a pit of despair. Sounds cheerful right? Well, when your town is attacked by sky whales you watch all your friends die and are then recruited to fight in a never-ending war. Jump forward five years and you have finally impressed your tutor enough to join the Immortals. After that this game plays out like any Call of Duty game. There is a bad guy that is crazy and wants world domination, you need to kill said dick head, and restore order to the world. 8/10 it was a pretty straight forward story, but I really enjoyed my time. The characters where fun and they didn’t talk like some medieval renn fest, just like modern day adults. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the other magic games this year.
THE GRIND
The trophy hunt for this game I will admit was too much for me. I beat the game on the hardest difficulty, and I missed a missable trophy, I just didn’t have the heart to go through the whole game again. There are a bunch of grinding trophies as well to get max level in the three forms of magic. To wrap this game up you have the classic collect a stupid number of useless things trophies. 5/10 It is an easy Platinum but a tedious one I did not have the time or energy to go after.
THE QUALITY
Beautiful game both graphically and how it felt. All the colors were rich, and the world felt full of plenty to explore. It is a linear game, but the levels are expansive enough to give you the open world feel. This one, unlike the other magic games this year, is in first person which is a cool take on the fantasy genre. The magic casting feels like the powers in the Bioshock series. but the game pacing was very much like a cross between Call of Duty and Ratchet and Clank. 9/10 I had a blast and the similar feeling to a few of my all-time favorite games made this game stand out for me.
THE JURY
7.3/10 overall making this one absolutely worth its price. I didn’t experience many bugs and the game felt great to play. The story was a little straight forward and that is ok not every game needs to be game changing. They focused on what was important and that is making you connect with the characters and have fun. More games should strive for this in place of more content we want better content. I am talking about you Assassins Creed franchise a lot of people expect great things out of Mirage this game gives me hope that games are heading in the right direction.
