The Harry Potter Films

Oh boy this is going to piss some people off but hey that is half of the fun of all of this. Harry Potter has been a household name sense the late 90’s. Well over two decades have people been losing themselves in the world created by J.K.Rowling. Seven books spawned eight movies with a three movie spinoff series. HBO is shooting a reimagining of the movies into a tv series. a bunch of video games were created fallowing the movies and Hogwarts Legacy recently blew us away earlier this year. Oh, plus there is a fucking theme park, these books have made a major impact on our culture. Today on Saga showdown I will be ranking the movies according to me from worst to best. Just the O.G. films though we will save the Fantastic beast movies for a later review. So, without further delay the worst Harry Potter film.

8. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Now I might catch some hate over this one but ask yourself was this movie needed? What happed in this one that warranted a whole movie? Oh, Serious Black is Harrys Uncle, Lupin is a werewolf, and Ron’s rat was a homeless dude with no finger. Yes, I know it is deeper than that, but I stand by this film could have been a pamphlet so let’s move on.

7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

What a slog this one was. I get it is the start to the big finally, but shit man this one was just let’s film three pissed off teenagers run away from home for 146 minutes. Sure, they found some important stuff to help beat old no nose, but this could have been added to part two. If I could sit through Avatar: The way of water, I could have sat through a three and a half hour finally. STOP SPLITTING THE LAST MOVIES IN A SERIES.

6. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

This one got a lot of love, but I don’t know it just was not the best. Harry stepped up to lead in this one yeah and the death of his uncle was rough. It was a crazy dark film, and it was a lot of needed set up for the next movies, but Jesus the amount of abuse the kids take in this one is wild, and Dumbledore is just like “peace out kids you got this good luck.” Maybe I am just over thinking it lets move on.

5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

This one is a classic and hard to judge too harshly. The kids were all brand new to acting so the performances were questionable at times, but the rock-solid performances of the adult cast made this one a gem. Not a lot of story in this one but we cut some slack it was their first time.

4. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The first film was good, but this is where they really started to get people invested. The first one teased about Voldemort being bad, this showed you this he is one evil fucker. The Polly juice potion scene was great, and the three amigos got shit done.

3. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

This film in the saga was crazy dark. Does everyone remember the scene where Harry essentially shoots Malfoy in the chest with a shotgun spell? Murder aside this film for sure had some of the most story set up in it leading to the Deathly Hallows grand finally. It also had some of the best performances by the cast Snape and Malfoy both having parallel death eater issues and just trying to survive was interesting.

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

This was a great final movie to the series, it tied everything up nicely and was beautiful to watch. I feel like this is a rare occasion where the book and movie line up well. The final battle was epic and left us craving more from the wizarding world.

1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Hands down the best in the series. The games, the birth of Voldemort, Mad-Eye Moody, the Quidditch world cup, the Death Eaters first appearance, and the pensive all in one movie. This film set the tone for the rest of the series and really created a sense of danger for Harry and the gang. This movie was super good, and the book was even better. Let me know if you agree.
